Why order this $20 Gold 1926 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle?
The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is the most highly acclaimed coin in the history of the United States. Its stunning beauty matches or exceeds that of any coin ever struck. Every American collector should have at least one of these remarkable coins in their collection.
Breathtaking Liberty Design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens
Obverse: Both the obverse and reverse were designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. On the obverse, Liberty strikes a confident pose holding her torch, a symbol of freedom, high and an olive branch, a symbol of peace, off to the side. She appears larger than life thanks to the sunrise backdrop. Joining her are the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "1926." Born in Ireland, Augustus Saint-Gaudens is best known for creating the designs for the double eagle. He was also a prominent sculptor, and his work features prominently throughout the United States.
Reverse: On the reverse, an eagle soars high in the sky against a backdrop of the sun's rays. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS" arch over the bird, while the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," is inscribed below.
Beautifully Preserved MS65
The experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded this coin a Mint State 65 grade. To receive that grade, a coin must be well struck and show no traces of wear.
