Why purchase this Mint State 1926 $10 Indian Head Gold Eagle coin?

The U.S. Mint's Indian Head Gold Eagle series was issued for a total of fifteen intermittent years, beginning in 1907 and concluding in 1933, its production permanently halted by the federal gold recall authorized by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This gorgeous Indian Head Gold Eagle coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint from 0.4838 Troy oz. of .900 fine gold, one of the 1,014,000 minted in 1926.

Beautifully Detailed Indian Head and Eagle Imagery by Augustus Saint-Gaudens

The obverse features a portrait of Lady Liberty, wearing a full ceremonial headdress, a style traditionally worn by Native American males. Thirteen stars curve above the image, with "1926" inscribed below and "LIBERTY" on the band of the headdress.

The reverse depicts a bald eagle proudly perched upon a tree branch, its neck and legs unnaturally elongated. The image is accompanied by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "TEN DOLLARS," along with the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST," which was added to the design in 1908.
