Iconic Incuse Designs by Bela Lyon Pratt

Obverse: Gracing the obverse is Bela Lyon Pratt's Indian Head design. A Native American man faces left while wearing a feathered headdress. Encircling the image along the rim are thirteen stars and two inscriptions, "LIBERTY" and "1926."

Reverse: Pratt's reverse design is an eagle that stands proudly on arrows that are wrapped in an olive branch. "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is inscribed to the left, while "IN GOD WE TRUST" is on the right. The name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and the face value of the coin, "2 1/2 DOLLARS," are inscribed along the rim. Bela Lyon Pratt was a graduate of Yale's School of Fine Arts. He is best known for the "Pratt coins," this Indian Head Quarter Eagle and its Half Eagle counterpart.
