Why add this 1925 Gold Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle to your collection?

In 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt collaborated with American Beaux-Arts generation sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens to redesign the American Gold Liberty Double Eagle, which had remained virtually unaltered in over fifty years of production. The resulting design represented the current attitude of the nation, depicting strong symbolism of freedom and liberty. This $20 Gold Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle coin measures 34 mm in diameter, struck from 0.9675 Troy oz. of .900 fine gold, with a weight of 33.43 grams. Mintage of the Philadelphia struck 1925 issue is reported to be 2,831,750 coins.

Iconic Lady Liberty

The obverse depicts Lady Liberty striding forward with the sun rising behind, an olive branch in her left hand and the torch of freedom held high in her right. She is surrounded by 48 stars, with the U.S. Capitol Building to the lower left. Inscribed "LIBERTY" and "1925."

A magnificently detailed eagle is depicted soaring above the rays of a rising sun on the reverse. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS" are inscribed above the eagle, with "IN GOD WE TRUST" below.
