The U.S. Mint issued the Indian Head Gold Quarter Eagle series for a total of thirteen years, beginning in 1908. The 1925 release marked the return of the series after a ten-year hiatus which included the years of the First World War. The series featured an innovative rimless, incuse image created by Boston sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt, whose mentor had been Augustus Saint-Gaudens, designer of the 1907 Gold Double Eagle.

Magnificent Quarter Eagle Imagery
Obverse: A Native American chief is portrayed on the obverse, facing left, wearing a spectacularly detailed ceremonial headdress. The portrait is surrounded by thirteen five-pointed stars, which are divided by the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "1925." The artist's initials "BLP" appear above the date.
Reverse: A bald eagle is depicted on the reverse grasping an olive branch, while perched upon a cluster of arrows, with "2 1/2 DOLLARS" inscribed below. Additional inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," with the Mint mark "D" located near the arrowhead points.

This 1925-D Indian Head $2.50 Gold Quarter Eagle coin received the grade of Mint State 65 from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
