Featuring the Iconic Saint-Gaudens Design

Obverse: Both faces of this coin bear patriotic designs by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, and the obverse design is named for him. Liberty stands confidently at the center holding symbols of freedom, her torch, and peace, an olive branch. She appears larger than life against a backdrop of the rising sun and a miniature Capitol Dome. Obverse inscriptions include her name, "LIBERTY," and the date, "1925."

Reverse: An eagle spreads its wings as it soars high in the sky as the sun's rays spread out in the background. The name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and the coin's face value, "TWENTY DOLLARS," are inscribed above the bird. Just above the sun at the bottom is an inscription of the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1848, Augustus Saint-Gaudens is most famous for his Double Eagle design, which was revived for the American Gold Eagle series in 1986. He also sculpted numerous works that are currently in prominent locations throughout the United States, as well as pieces that are on display in Dublin and London.
