Why add the 1924 Silver Peace Dollar PCGS MS65 to your collection?
Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) graded this 1924 Silver Peace Dollar at the solidly collectible Mint State 65 (MS65) level. The series was struck from 1921 through 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935. They were struck on .900 fine silver planchets containing .7734 oz of silver bullion. This example was struck at the Philadelphia Mint. It has a mintage of 11,811,000 coins, which is significantly lower than any Peace Dollars struck in 1922 or 1923.
Transcendent Peace Dollar design
The obverse of the Peace Dollar features the left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty. She wears a shining crown of light with her hair flowing backward in the wind. The word "Liberty" appears overhead and the date centered below. The motto "In God We Trust" is appears split on either side of Liberty's image. The design was created by sculptor Anthony de Francisci, to commemorate the return to Peace after World War I. Mr. de Francisci's wife Teresa served as model. The reverse features the proud American Bald Eagle on a rocky outcrop witnessing the dawn of a new day, bathed in sunlight.
MS65 Stunner
MS65 coins are well struck, lustrous examples with excellent eye appeal and magnificent, original surfaces. Business strikes at this level experience heavy collector interest.
