The Peace silver dollar is an interesting coin. It was issued to replace the Morgan silver dollar and it was inspired by the peace that followed the end of World War I. These coins were first issued in 1921, the one shown here was minted in 1924. It was struck at the Philadelphia branch of the U.S. Mint. It had a relatively low mintage of 11,811,000.
Exquisite Designs by de Francisci
The designs for the Peace dollar are the work of Anthony de Francisci. Liberty is depicted facing the left on the obverse. This side is inscribed with "1924," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "LIBERTY."
A bald eagle is pictured on the reverse. This eagle displays an impressive level of detail. It's perched on a rock with the word "PEACE." The face value can be seen around the eagle, the sun's rays are depicted in the background.
PCGS MS64
To have this silver dollar graded and encapsulated, it was submitted to the Professional Coin Grading Service. The grading scale used by their experts has a maximum of 70. This coin is in choice uncirculated condition, it was given the grade of Mint State 64.
