This 1923-S Peace Dollar is available in Mint State 63 (MS63) condition as determined by the experts at Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). This coin was struck at the world famous San Francisco branch of the U.S. Mint. The coins were struck on 90% pure silver 10% copper planchets that contain .7734 oz. of silver bullion. The series was suggested by Numismatist former President of the American Numismatic Association, Joseph Ferran Zerbe at the ANA convention in Chicago in 1920. The suggestion was to commemorate the Peace achieved after World War I with the "replacement" silver dollar coin that was legislated as a crucial part of the Pittman Act of 1918.

Landmark 20th Century Design

The obverse features the portrait of artist Anthony de Francisi's young wife Teresa as a vibrant Lady Liberty for an optimistic time in America. She is shown wearing a crown of rays. The reverse features a bald eagle standing on a rocky outcrop clutching an olive branch. The word Peace appears beneath the eagle.
