Why add this 1922 Silver Peace Dollar to your collection?

The Silver Peace Dollar was created in 1921 to celebrate the end of World War I and the restoration of peace in the following years. A competition among nine artists was held to determine imagery for the coin. The chosen design was submitted by Italian-American sculptor Anthony de Francisci, featuring a young female personification of Liberty and the national bird of the United States. This second year of issue Peace Dollar was struck in 1922 at the Philadelphia Mint from 0.7734 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver. Mintage of the 38.1 mm diameter silver dollar is reported to be 51,737,000.

Gorgeous Peace Dollar Design

A beautiful crowned image of Lady Liberty appears on the obverse, her hair swept away from her face in a gentle breeze. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "1922."

A bald eagle boldly stands on a rock on the reverse with an olive branch in its grip. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "ONE DOLLAR" and "PEACE."
