Why order this Morgan 1921-S Silver Dollar
This Silver Morgan 1921-S Silver Dollar is a great choice to start or grow your Morgan collection. It comes from the final issue of the coin, for which Morgan had to create new dies since the old ones had been destroyed. This coin was struck from .900 fine silver at the San Francisco Mint, as indicated by the "S" Mint mark on the reverse.
Classic Designs by George T. Morgan
Like the reverse, the obverse was designed by George T. Morgan. It features an American-style Liberty figure, which Morgan created by using Anna Willess Williams as his model. Liberty's long hair covers the back of her neck. She wears three items on her head: a ribbon bearing her name, a crown of wheat and cotton, and a Phrygian cap. Two inscriptions, "1921" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM," are joined on the rim by thirteen stars.
On the reverse, a laurel wreath arches under an eagle. The eagle holds arrows and an olive branch, which symbolize military readiness and peace, respectively. The bird's wings nearly touch the edge. Above its head and between its wings is the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST."
Uncirculated Mint State 64
The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC) graders found that this coin has an average or above strike, but it also has some obvious hairlines or marks and some other, very minor imperfections. That is why they graded it Mint State 64.
