Why add this 1921-S Morgan Silver Dollar to your collection of American coinage?

Production of the United States Mint's Silver Morgan Dollar was halted in 1904, after twenty-seven years of annual minting. In 1921, the Morgan Dollar was again struck, as backing for the silver certificates issued following the passage of the Pittman Act, in which hundreds of millions of silver dollars were melted. The unexpected single year revival of the series required the creation of new dies, as the earlier ones had been destroyed. The reformed dies produced a strike with a shallower relief compared to the rest of the series. Struck at the San Francisco Mint from 0.7734 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver, final mintage of the 1921-S Morgan Dollar is recorded as 21,695,000.

Lady Liberty as Envisioned by George T. Morgan

The left facing profile image of Lady Liberty is centered on the obverse, encircled by a crenelated border and thirteen stars, accompanied by the inscriptions "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "1921."

On the reverse, the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "S" and "ONE DOLLAR" frame a dramatic rendition of a heraldic eagle holding three arrows and an olive branch.

Spectacular Mint State 63

Graded Mint State 63 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), this San Francisco minted 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar will exhibit an average strike as well as a few scuff marks, with overall pleasing eye appeal.
