Why purchase this 1913 Indian Head Half Eagle $5 gold coin?

The Indian Head Half Eagle series was issued by the U.S. Mint annually from 1908 until 1916, with a final year of release in 1929. The coin was identical in imagery to Gold Quarter Eagle coin, which was issued during the same time period. Both series were minted with a rimless design and an incuse strike, characteristics that were new to U.S. coinage. The incuse design was not well received by the public, for fear that germs and disease would lurk in the design's deep recesses and easily spread amongst the population.

  • This 1913 Indian Head Gold Half Eagle coin is a Philadelphia Mint product.
