Why make this 1911 Liberty Head V Nickel a part of your collection?

In 1883, the Liberty Head Nickel replaced the Shield Nickel, becoming the U.S. Mint's second five cent denomination coin series. The Liberty Head Nickel was annually produced through 1913, although only five examples are known to exist with the 1913 date. The series is alternately referenced as the V Nickel, for its distinctive reverse imagery. Design of the series is credited to sculptor Charles E. Barber, who served as the Mint's sixth Chief Engraver from 1880-1917.

  • This Liberty Head V Nickel was struck in 1911, one of the final years of the series!
  • The coin is minted from a composition of 75% copper and 25% nickel.
  • The coin measures 21.2 mm in diameter with a smooth edge.
  • Final mintage is reported to be 39,557,639 coins.
