Saint-Gaudens' Iconic Design

Obverse: the obverse of the coin features a full-length depiction of Columbia, the goddess Liberty. The Torch of Enlightenment held overhead lights her path, as she carries the olive branch of Peace. The U.S. Capitol Building appears in the background.

Reverse: the reverse of the coin features a bald eagle in flight in the dawning sun of a new day. The motto "In God We Trust" appears as the rays emanate from the sun. The designer, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, was the most famous artist in the United States when President Theodore Roosevelt approached him to redesign American Coinage at the beginning of the 20th Century.

Mint State 62

Mint State 62 coins are sought after by collectors. These coins may retain some mint luster. They will exhibit full design details and may have a few distractions or bag marks due to the fact that most examples spent decades stored in canvas bags inside of bank vaults and depositories.
