Why add this $20 Gold 1910-D Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle to your collection?

Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an icon of American numismatics, which is a major reason that any serious collector would love this 1910-D Gold Double Eagle. The coin was struck at the Denver Mint and is part of a mintage of 429,000 pieces. It was struck on a .900 fine gold planchet and has a gold weight of 0.9675 oz.

Exquisite Design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens

On the obverse is a design that is considered by many the most beautiful ever to appear on a coin. Like the coin itself, it is named for Augustus Saint-Gaudens, its designer. Liberty stands at the center facing the holder. She extends her right hand in front of her, proudly holding her torch, and extends an olive branch off to her side. The rays of the morning sun spread out behind her, making for a truly iconic backdrop. Fifty stars, one for each state, encircle the image, while the Capitol Dome is included in miniature on the left.

An eagle stands perched atop a bunch of arrows on the reverse. Wrapped around the arrows, symbols of military preparedness, is an olive branch, a symbol of peace.

Uncirculated MS62

This coin earned a Mint State 62 grade from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Coins graded MS62 lack any signs of wear.
