Iconic Saint-Gaudens Design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens

The obverse features the most famous design of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, who lends his name to it. Liberty stands at the center facing the holder. In one hand, she holds high her torch, a symbol of freedom throughout the world, and holds an olive branch off to her side. In the background is a miniature rendering of the Capitol Dome. The rays of the morning sun emerge from the horizon in the background. Stars are spread throughout the rim.

Saint-Gaudens also designed the reverse. He shows an eagle from the left as it soars high in the sky against a backdrop of the sun. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS" are inscribed at the top.

Uncirculated MS62
