Why purchase this 1908-P Saint-Gaudens No Motto Gold Double Eagle coin?

The U.S. Mint launched the Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle series in 1907. Imagery of the coin is credited to acclaimed American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, who worked closely with President Theodore Roosevelt to finalize the design. The coin's inaugural release was not well-received by the public for its lack of the national motto "In God We Trust." The Mint remedied the issue by adding the motto to the coin's reverse in August of 1908. This 1908 dated example of the series was minted before the design modification, reflecting the original vision of Saint-Gaudens and the President.
