Why make this Proof 1906 Liberty Head Nickel a part of your collection?

The Liberty Head Nickel was the U.S. Mint's second series of five cent denomination coinage. The coin was issued from 1883 until its replacement by the Buffalo Nickel in 1913. Imagery for the series is credited to Charles E. Barber, who was appointed the sixth Chief Engraver of the Mint by President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880. The Liberty Head Nickel is commonly known as the "V" Nickel, referencing the coin's denomination on the reverse as a large Roman numeral. The series was issued for circulation, and in significantly lower mintage collectible proof format.

  • This Proof Liberty Head Nickel was struck in 1906 at the Philadelphia Mint.
  • The coin is crafted from a 75% copper and 25% nickel composition.
  • The coin measures 21.20 mm in diameter.
  • Final mintage is reported to be only 1,725 coins!
