Why add this Silver 1904-S Barber Half Dollar to your collection of precious metal treasures?

The Barber Half Dollar was issued by the U.S. Mint from 1892 until 1915, featuring a rendition of Liberty created by Charles E. Barber, the Mint's sixth Chief Engraver. This version of Liberty also graced the dime and quarter released during the same time period. Measuring 30.60 mm in diameter, this Barber Half Dollar was struck from 0.3617 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver at the San Francisco Mint in 1904. Having a final reported mintage of only 553,038 coins, most of which were released into circulation, the 1904-S Barber Half Dollar has one of the lower mintagaes of the entire series.

Barber's Personification of Lady Liberty

The obverse features Lady Liberty in a right facing pose, her head adorned with a Phrygian cap, olive branch wreath and a "LIBERTY" inscribed headband. The portrait is encircled by thirteen six-pointed stars, "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date of issue "1904."

A heraldic eagle is depicted on the reverse gripping thirteen arrows and an olive branch, with thirteen stars above, and San Francisco's "S" Mint mark below. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR," with the national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" on a banner held in the eagle's beak.

This circulated 1904-S Silver Barber Half Dollar is ungraded, considered to be in Good (G4) condition.
