Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this 1904-O Morgan Silver Dollar at the stunning Mint State 65 level. This is the final Morgan Silver Dollar issue struck at the New Orleans Branch of the United States Mint. It has a mintage of 3,720,000 coins. The series was struck on 90% silver, 10% copper rounds containing .7734 oz. actual silver weight. This issue was considered a major rarity for the decades leading up to the GSA sales of the 1960s.
Morgan's Iconic Silver Dollar Design
The obverse image used on the coin if the left-facing profile of Lady Liberty wearing a small crown inscribed with "Liberty" on it. The reverse image used on the coin features a Bald Eagle encircled by a laurel wreath. "In God We Trust" rendered in Gothic lettering appears over the eagle. This design was engraver George T. Morgan's first assignment for the U.S. Mint.
