Featuring the Patriotic Designs of George T. Morgan
Obverse: This coin takes its name from George T. Morgan, who designed both of its faces. On the obverse is a left-side portrait of Liberty, who was depicted as an American-style figure rather than a Greek-style one, as was traditional. She wears a Phrygian cap, a ribbon that bears an inscription of her name, and crown. The crown represents unity, as it is made from cotton, a Southern crop, and wheat, a Northern one. "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "1904" are inscribed along the rim, joined by thirteen stars.
Reverse: On the reverse, an eagle holds arrows and an olive branch while spreading its wings within an open wreath. America's national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," is inscribed between the eagle's wings. Along the rim are inscriptions of the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and the face value of the coin, "ONE DOLLAR."
