Why buy this Morgan 1904-O Silver Dollar?
This 1904-O Silver Morgan Dollar is a great choice for collectors who are looking for an affordable Morgan in Mint state, as well as those who like owning coins with significant, if not key, dates. The significance of the 1904 Morgan coins is that they come from the final issue of the coin's original run, with 1921 being the only later year that the beloved coin was issued. The coin was one of 3,720,000 pieces of its kind struck at the New Orleans Mint that year and bears the "O" Mint mark to prove it.
Trailblazing Liberty design by George T. Morgan
George T. Morgan designed both faces of this coin, and his designs remain among the most recognizable in American numismatic history nearly a century after the coin was last issued. His obverse design was significant because it was the first time that Liberty was designed by an artist using an American-looking rather than Greek-looking model. Shown in left-side profile, she wears a Phrygian cap, a symbol of her freedom, and a ribbon bearing "LIBERTY." She also dons a crown made from two staple American crops, cotton and wheat. On the reverse, an eagle holds arrows and an olive branch.
Uncirculated Mint State 64
This coin received a grade of Mint State 64 from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). That means that the strike is at least average, but the coin has several obvious marks or hairlines, as well as additional minuscule imperfections.
