Patriotic Eagle Design by James B. Longacre

Reverse: The reverse features an eagle protecting a union shield. "IN GOD WE TRUST," the national motto, is inscribed above the bird's head and is encircled by thirteen stars. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" spreads throughout the top half of the rim, while the coin's face value, "TWENTY DOLLARS," is at the bottom of it. James B. Longacre was the fourth Chief Engraver of the US Mint. He is best known for his Indian Head Cent designs.
