Iconic Liberty Design by James Longacre

Obverse: James Longacre designed both faces of this coin. On the obverse is a left-side portrait of Liberty. She wears a coronet that bears an inscription of her name, and her hair is held back in a bun. The date, "1904," is inscribed below her portrait, while thirteen stars spread throughout the rest of the rim.

Reverse: An eagle guards a union shield on the reverse. Above, thirteen stars encircle the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Rim inscriptions on this face read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS."
