Why order this 1903-S Barber Silver Dime?

The Barber Dime is perfect for collectors with an interest in late 19th and early 20th century history. This coin has the third lowest mintage of Barber Dimes struck after the turn of the century at just 613,300 pieces. It bears the "S" mint mark of the San Francisco Mint, where it was struck on a 2.5 g planchet of .900 fine silver.

Regal Liberty Design by Charles Barber

Liberty appears similar to the way that she did on the Morgan Silver Dollar on the obverse. Designer Charles Barber did, however, make some adjustments to the Morgan design. He shortened her hair and covered most of it with a Liberty cap. Rim inscriptions offer the coin's country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and date, "1903."

Barber also designed the reverse, where the coin's face value, "ONE DIME," is inscribed at the center. It is encircled by a wreath that looks very similar to the wreath that appeared on the Seated Liberty Dime.

Relatively Well Preserved F15

This coin is hard to find in any state, so its Fine 15 grade is more attractive than it would be with many other coins. It received that grade from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
