Why add the 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar Toned NGC AU58 to your collection?

This attractively toned 1902-O Morgan Silver Dollar graded About Uncirculated 58 (AU58) was graded and encapsulated by industry grading experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). The New Orleans branch of the U.S. Mint is famous for having two separate periods of coin production, first from 1838 through 1861 and then again from 1879 until 1909. It was closed at the onset of the Civil War. Morgans were struck there from 1879 until 1904 when production of the series stopped because the supply of the silver purchased under the Sherman Silver Purchase Act was exhausted. Each coin was struck on a 90% pure silver planchet that contains .7734 oz of silver bullion.

Classic Silver Dollar

The name "Morgan Dollar" is derived from the last name of George T. Morgan, a junior engraver at the United States Mint who designed the coin. Anna Willis Williams was the model for Liberty's portrait, the featured image on the obverse of the coin. As required by law, the reverse of the dollar features an eagle. This reverse is occupied by a heraldic eagle "displayed" meaning that his wings are spread.

Desirable Toned AU58

AU55 coins are lightly circulated examples which continue to display significant design detail. The Toning, or attractive natural discoloration from environmental factors add to the collectability and eye appeal of this coin.
