Morgan's Powerful Symbolic Designs
Liberty is depicted on the obverse. She's at the center of the design with detailed wavy hair and a small cap. The border on this side is formed by 13 stars, the date, and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." This is the work of George T. Morgan.
The design on the reverse is also the work of Morgan. A bald eagle can be seen within a half wreath. It's holding its wings high as it clutches arrows and an olive branch with its talons. The "O" mintmark is just above the face value.
