Why Make This MS63 1901 $10 Liberty Head Gold Eagle the Next Addition to Your Collection?

The Eagle was a circulating gold coin in the United States with a face value of $10. During the history of our nation this coin was important in circulation, although many of these did not circulate as much as coins with smaller denominations. This Liberty Head Gold Eagle was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1901.

1901 was a pivotal year in American History. Notable births in 1901 included Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, Louis Armstrong, and Walt Disney himself. It was this year that President William McKinley would be assassinated n his second term, leading to Vice President Theodore Roosevelt beecoming the youngest President to be sworn in at the time, New York become the first state to require license plates on automobiles, and perhaps most infamously, the stock market crash which led to the period called the Great Depression. This 1901 $10 Liberty Head had a mintage of just 1,718,740 pieces.
