Powerful Liberty Design by Christian Gobrecht

Christian Gobrecht designed both faces of this Liberty head eagle. Liberty looks to the left side of the obverse. The young figure wears a coronet that bears an inscription of her name, and her hair is tied back. The date, "1901," is inscribed under her effigy, and thirteen stars along the rim represent the original states.

On the reverse, an eagle guards a union shield. Above its head is a ribbon on which is the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." The coin's face value, "TEN D," is spelled out at the bottom, while "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" spreads throughout the rest of the rim.

Uncirculated MS61

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this coin Mint State 61 (MS61). That indicates that it has a weak to average strike and several marks and abrasions.
