Why purchase this 1900-O Barber Silver Dime?

Go back to the turn of the century with this 1900-O Barber Dime. In spite of its VG10 grade, this coin is a true find among discerning collectors, as this issue is scarce in all grades. Part of a mintage of 2,010,000 pieces, the coin was struck from 2.5 g of .900 fine silver and bears the "O" mint mark of the New Orleans Mint on the reverse.

Youthful Liberty Design by Charles Barber

Charles Barber adapted the designs of earlier coins when he created this one. The obverse features a Liberty design that is quite similar to the one that the iconic Morgan Silver Dollar bore. Barber's design, though, puts a Liberty cap on the figure and shows her with short, rather than long, hair. The coin's date, "1900," is inscribed below Liberty, while "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" spreads throughout the remainder of the rim.

On the reverse, a wreath encircles an inscription of the face value of the coin, "ONE DIME." The wreath is nearly identical to the one that appeared on the Seated Liberty Dime, the predecessor of the Barber series.

Relatively Well Maintained VG10

In spite of this coin's mintage, it is considered scarce in all grades. The overwhelming majority of surviving examples have been worn heavily. Accordingly, the Very Good 10 grade that this coin received from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) remains relatively attractive. The design is worn and the letters and digits show softness, but the coin is still easily identifiable.

Don't miss your chance to own this Barber 1900-O Silver Dime.
