Why Make This AU55 VAM-24 1900 Morgan Silver Dollar the Next Addition to Your Collection?

Few coins are as well-known as the Morgan silver dollar. Many are familiar with these coins because of their association with the Wild West era. This Morgan dollar was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1900. There were 8,830,000 of these minted. The specimen shown here displays the VAM-24 die variety. This desirable variety is also on the Top 100 list that defines the most significant die varieties that can be found on Morgan dollars.

1900 VAM-24

The obverse of this silver dollar features a classic Liberty design by George T. Morgan. Liberty has curly hair and is facing the left in this design. Some of the attributes of VAM-24 can be seen on this side, most notably the quintupled stars.

The reverse shows Morgan's bald eagle design. The eagle is using its talons to hold a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. If you look closely at the arrows you can see doubling, which is another characteristic of VAM-24.

The Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) was chosen to grade this silver dollar. It was assigned the grade of About Uncirculated 55 (AU55). That means this specimen exhibits some minor signs of wear.
