The date is displayed on the obverse among 13 stars in the lower portion of the design. Both sides of this coin feature designs by George T. Morgan, which is how the name Morgan dollar came to be. A portrait of Liberty is at the center.
The reverse shows Morgan's bald eagle design. The eagle has its wings high as it holds a bundle of arrows and an olive branch.
