Why purchase this $20 Gold Liberty Head Double Eagle coin struck in 1900?
The introduction of the U.S. Mint's first circulating $20 gold coin series was prompted by the California Gold Rush of the mid-1800s. Featuring designs created by the Mint's fourth Chief Engraver James B. Longacre, the Liberty Head Gold Double Eagle coin was annually issued from 1850 until 1907. The most significant alteration to the series occurred in 1866, when the motto "In God We Trust" was added to the reverse when the American Civil War concluded.
Marvelously Detailed Designs

Additional inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS," with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" on curling scrolls flanking the eagle. As a Philadelphia Mint product no Mint mark is present.
