The United States Mint issued the Morgan Silver Dollar for a total of twenty-eight years following its introduction in 1878. The series is named for its designer George T. Morgan, who was hired by the Mint as assistant engraver in 1876. Morgan's career at the Mint culminated with his appointment as seventh Chief Engraver in 1917.

Beautiful Silver Dollar Design
Obverse: Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse in a left facing pose, wearing a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol referencing the pursuit of liberty. The cap's headband is inscribed with the word "LIBERTY," and ornamented with a garland of cotton, oak and wheat clippings. The image is encircled by thirteen stars, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "1899."
Reverse: An eagle adorns the reverse, with three arrows and an olive branch clasped in its talons. Inscriptions include "IN GOD WE TRUST," "ONE DOLLAR" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."
