Why Choose This MS64 Toned 1898-O Morgan Dollar?

While there are many classic U.S. coins that are available to collectors today, the Morgan silver dollar is consistently one of the most popular. Mintage of these coins began in 1878 and continued through 1904 then resumed for a single year in 1921. The New Orleans Mint struck this silver dollar in 1898. Its mintage was moderate, there were 4,440,000 of them struck.

Inspiring Designs by Morgan

The obverse features an iconic portrait of Liberty by George T. Morgan. These coins take their name from their designer. The border of this design is formed by the date, 13 stars, and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."

The "O" Mint mark of the New Orleans Mint is located on the reverse between the wreath and the face value. The central portion of this design shows a bald eagle with its wings held high.

Toned and MS64 from NGC

This Morgan dollar displays toning, which is a process that occurs with some coins as they age. Toning is a natural process. It was certified by the experts at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation in Mint State 64 condition.
