Why add the 1898-O Morgan Silver Dollar NGC MS66 Green Label to your collection?
Struck at the New Orleans Mint facility, this 1898-O Morgan Silver Dollar achieved the elevated Mint State 66 (MS66) grade from the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). This particular coin also qualified for NGC's distinctive Green Label, which was the result of a partnership between the grading corporation and Rare Coin Company of America (RARCOA).
The Silver Dollar of the Old West
Obverse: The obverse of this classic design features the image of Anna Williams, a Philadelphia school teacher, who modeled as Lady Liberty. She symbolically represents Freedom.
Reverse: The reverse features a laurel wreath surrounding a formidable Bald Eagle with his wings spread. Centered beneath the wreath is the iconic "O" mint mark. Overhead, the motto "In God We Trust" is rendered in Gothic lettering.
Green Label Goodness, MS66 Brilliance
Mint State 66 coins are coins with exceptional strikes. They also have few marks or distractions. They have stunning eye appeal. The Green Label is encapsulated with coins of exceptional quality that prior to being submitted to NGC for grading, were first identified for meeting a set of standards set by experts at RARCOA pertaining to their strike, luster, eye-appeal and toning. This Green Label happens to also be encapsulated with a coin struck in New Orleans. Historically, the New Orleans Mint did not produce exceptionally struck coins. That facility was notorious for setting the dies slightly further apart, so as to prolong the life of the dies. Well-struck coins from New Orleans can be tough to find.
