This portrait shows her facing the left and wearing a cap. The date is at the bottom of the design. The design on the reverse shows a detailed bald eagle with the tips of its wings above its head. It can be seen clutching a few arrows and an olive branch with its talons. The "O" Mint mark of the New Orleans Mint is between the wreath and the face value inscription.
