Why add the 1897 Morgan Silver Dollar Top 100 PCGS MS62 VAM-6A Pitted Reverse California to your collection?
This 1897 Morgan Silver Dollar achieved the grade of Mint State 62 (MS62) from Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). The series was struck from 1878 until 1904 and again in 1921 by the U.S. Mint. This specimen was struck at the Philadelphia branch of the mint and contains .7734 oz. of silver bullion. PCGS has attributed this example with the VAM-6A "Pitted Reverse" which is popular with collectors. It is a "Top 100" Morgan VAM. It also features the California Collection pedigree from one of the finest collection of Morgans ever assembled.
Classic Silver Dollar Design
The obverse of the coin features the left-facing profile of Lady Liberty. She is depicted wearing a Phrygian Cap, a symbol of Freedom. The reverse of the coin features the iconic symbol of America, the Bald Eagle. This design features the eagle with wings spread as he holds arrows and an olive branch. The VAM-6A is characterized by raised bumps in the fields around lower part of the wreath. This was caused by a rusted die. George T. Morgan designed this highly collected U.S. silver dollar series.
MS62 collector grade with VAM
MS62 coins are high grade examples that feature minimal distractions and several positive characteristics like full design details, eye appeal and original surfaces.
