Why Order This MS64 1896 Morgan Dollar?
The Morgan silver dollar is among the most well-known and iconic classic U.S. coins. They were first issued in 1878 and are often seen as a symbol of the Wild West era. Annual production continued through 1904 and then they were struck later for a single year in 1921. The Philadelphia Mint struck this Morgan dollar in 1896. It had a moderate mintage of 9,976,000 pieces.
Morgan's Patriotic Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs
The woman depicted on the obverse is Liberty. The name Morgan dollar comes from the fact that both sides of the coin were designed by George T. Morgan. The date can also be found on this side.
The reverse shows a bald eagle with its wings held high. The words "IN GOD WE TRUST" are between the tips of its wings. Arrows and an olive branch can be seen in the eagle's talons. The face value is at the bottom of the design.
