Why Add This XF 1894-O Morgan Dollar to Your Collection?

The Morgan silver dollar is a fascinating coin with plenty of history surrounding it; many are intrigued by its ties to the Wild West era of United States history. These coins often have plenty of eye appeal as well and there are scarce specimens available. The Morgan dollar shown here was struck at the New Orleans Mint in 1894. Mintage of this coin was low; there were only 1,723,000 of these struck.

Morgan's Inspiring Symbolic Designs

The Morgan dollar is named after the artist who created the obverse and reverse designs, George T. Morgan. The obverse shows his portrait of Liberty in a cap. The date is at the bottom of the design among 13 stars.

The reverse depicts a bald eagle partially surrounded by half a wreath. The eagle is holding its wings high and the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" can be seen between the tips. The lower portion of the design shows the mintmark and face value.

This coin was assigned the grade of Extremely Fine. It displays some wear but many original details remain.
