Why purchase this Silver 1892-S Barber Dime?

The Barber Dime is a classic American coin from the turn of the century. Every collector of American coins needs at least one in their collection. This one comes from the inaugural run of the series at the San Francisco Mint. Because of that mint's high production of dimes the previous year, just 990,710 1892-S Barbers were struck, each from 2.5 g of .900 fine silver.

Historic Liberty Design by Charles Barber

The designs on both faces of these coins are credited to Charles Barber, though he leaned heavily on the designs of older coins in creating them. On the obverse is a Liberty design that he adapted from the Morgan Silver Dollar. Liberty has extremely similar facial features, but Barber cropped her hair and put a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom from slavery, on her head. Rim inscriptions read, "1892" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

"ONE DIME" is inscribed in large lettering at the center of the reverse. It is encircled by a wreath that is virtually identical to the one on the Seated Liberty Dime, this coin's predecessor.

Beautifully Preserved MS62

This coin earned a Mint State 62 grade from the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). That means that it has about an average strike and shows no traces of wear.

Don't miss your chance to own this 1892-S Barber Silver Dime.
