Why Add This MS63 1890 Morgan Dollar to Your Collection Today?
The Morgan silver dollar is one of the most well-known classic U.S. coins. These 90% silver coins were minted annually from 1878 through 1904 and then again for a single year in 1921. The Philadelphia Mint struck this Morgan dollar in 1890. There were 16,802,000 of these minted. Compared to other Morgan dollar mintage figures, this number is moderate.
Stunning Patriotic Works of Art by Morgan
The obverse shows a detailed portrait of Liberty surrounded by a border. The border is formed by 13 stars, the date, and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
The name Morgan dollar comes from the fact that the obverse and reverse designs were created by George T. Morgan. The reverse shows his depiction of a bald eagle holding its wings high. Since this coin was struck in Philadelphia, it doesn't have a mintmark.
