Why Choose This MS63 1890 Morgan Dollar?

The Morgan silver dollar is one of the most easily recognized classic U.S. coins. These silver dollars were struck from 1878 through 1904. They were also minted in 1921. The coin shown here was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1890. Like many other coins from the Philadelphia Mint, this one does not have a Mint mark. Compared to other years of the series mintage of this coin was moderate. There were 16,802,000 of these struck.

Symbolic Designs by Morgan

On the obverse, Liberty is depicted with long hair and a cap. She is facing the left in this design. This work of art was created by George T. Morgan, that's actually how these coins got their name. The date can be found at the bottom of the design.

The face value is on the reverse. This design shows a powerful bald eagle that is partially surrounded by a wreath. Its wings are held high and "IN GOD WE TRUST" can be seen between the tips.
