Patriotic Eagle Design by George T. Morgan
Obverse: George T. Morgan's obverse design depicts Liberty in left-side profile. On her head are a Phrygian cap, a ribbon that bears an inscription of her name, and a crown of cotton, a Southern crop, and wheat, a Northern one. Inscriptions along the rim include a statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the date, "1887." Those inscriptions are joined by thirteen stars.
Reverse: Morgan's reverse design depicts an eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch within an open wreath. The national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," is inscribed above the bird's head. Inscribed along the rim are the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and the face value of the coin, "ONE DOLLAR."

This coin received a Mint State 65 grade from the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). That grade indicates that the coin was struck well. This coin was also awarded NGC's Green Label which is only awarded to coins that in addition to NGC's own certification process, were first selected by experts at Rare Coin Company of America (RARCOA) for possessing elements pertaining to its strike, eye-appeal, luster, and toning.
