Why add the 1887 Morgan Silver Dollar NGC Mint State 64 to your collection?

This 1887 Morgan Silver Dollar achieved the solidly collectible Mint State 64 grade from the industry leaders at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). The Morgan dollar was struck from 1878 until 1904 and then again in 1921. It remains one of the most widely collected series in America. The coins are struck on 90% silver planchets, each weigh .7734 oz. actual silver weight. This issue was struck at the Nation's first Mint, the Philadelphia branch of the U.S. Mint.

Miss Liberty Obverse

The designer of the series was an English immigrant named George T. Morgan. At the age of 31, he designed this iconic coin as one of his first assignments for the mint. He later rose to become the chief engraver of the US Mint. The obverse features the portrait of Liberty. Curiously, she is wearing a coronet and a Phrygian cap simultaneously. The reverse of the coin features a bald eagle encircled by a laurel wreath. Overhead the motto "In God We Trust" appears.

Stellar Mint State 64

Mint State 64 coins will have full design details, no signs of circulation, above average strikes and above average mint luster. These examples will have smallish distractions that are easily overlooked. The coins will have great eye appeal and will be an excellent addition to your collection.
