Why add the 1886 Morgan Silver Dollar BU to your collection?
This 1886 Morgan Silver Dollar ships to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The series was struck by the United States Mint from 1878 until 1904, and again in 1921. This 1886 issue was struck in Philadelphia and has a mintage of 19,963,000 coins. Each coin was struck on a .900 pure silver planchet which has .7734 oz. of bullion. The issue is a popular one with type collectors because high quality, excellent condition examples remain after the mass meltings and broad circulation most of the mintage faced.
George Morgan's Classic Liberty
The obverse features one of the most iconic images of Lady Liberty ever struck. She is shown in left-facing profile wearing a coronet inscribed with the word "Liberty." Anna Willess Williams, a Philadelphia school teacher served as the model for Liberty. Her youthful beauty reflects the optimism of 19th Century American Idealism. The reverse features a Heraldic American Eagle surrounded by wreath of laurel branches. The eagle represents America's strength and the laurel wreath symbolizes America's prosperity. Overhead is the inscription "In God We Trust" in Gothic lettering.
