Why Make This MS65 1885-O Morgan Dollar the Next Addition to Your Collection?

While there are many U.S. coins that are considered classic today, there are some that are simply more widely collected than others. The Morgan silver dollar has been a top pick of collectors for decades, these were originally issued from 1878 through 1904 and then again in 1921. The New Orleans Mint struck this Morgan dollar in 1885. It had a moderate mintage of 9,185,000 pieces.

Patriotic Icons Depicted by George T. Morgan

The name Morgan dollar comes from the fact that the obverse and reverse designs were created by George T. Morgan. Liberty is shown on the obverse, she's facing the left and wearing a cap. The date is just below her in the middle of 13 stars.

The New Orleans Mint's "O" mintmark is on the reverse just above the face value. This design shows a bald eagle partially surrounded by a wreath.

PCGS Certified MS65

This coin was submitted to the Professional Coin Grading Service. Since it was found to be in gem uncirculated condition with excellent luster, it was assigned the grade of Mint State 65.
