Why Choose This MS64* Rainbow Toned 1885-O Great Montana Collection Morgan Silver Dollar?
The Morgan silver dollar was issued for circulation each year from 1878 through 1904. These coins were struck at a variety of U.S. Mint branches and they were also minted later in 1921. This 1885 Morgan dollar was struck at the New Orleans Mint. The specimen pictured here is the coin you will receive when you order. You may have already noticed the fact that this specimen is rainbow toned. This is the result of a natural process and many collectors find it to be a very desirable quality. This specimen also happens to be a hoard coin from the Great Montana Collection.
Patriotic Obverse and Reverse Designs from Morgan
The date can be found on the obverse along with a detailed portrait of Liberty. This design was created by George T. Morgan.
The reverse also displays a design by Morgan. This side depicts a bald eagle partially surrounded by a wreath. If you're looking for the mintmark, it's just below the wreath.
When this coin was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, it was given the grade of Mint State 64*. It's in choice uncirculated condition and the * indicates that it has particularly impressive eye appeal.
