Why Add This MS64 1885-O Great Montana Collection Morgan Silver Dollar to Your Collection?

The Morgan silver dollar is consistently among the most popular classic U.S. coins. These coins were minted from 1878 through 1904 and again in 1921. The New Orleans Mint struck this Morgan dollar in 1885. It had a moderate mintage, but what separates this specimen from others like it is the fact that it came from the Great Montana Collection. The coin pictured on this page is the specimen you will receive when you order.

Morgan's Classic Detailed Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs

Liberty is pictured on the obverse. She's facing the left and wearing a cap. There are plenty of fine details to observe on her hair, face, and hat. This design is by George T. Morgan.

The bald eagle design on the reverse is also by Morgan. Many of the individual feathers can be seen as it holds its wings high. Since this coin was struck in New Orleans, it has an "O" mintmark near the bottom of the design.

This coin is well over a century old, but it's actually still in choice uncirculated condition. When it was sent to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation it was assigned the grade of Mint State 64 on their 70 point grading scale.
